Church Meeting 22nd May 2016 (Elders 19th May 2016)
Attended by 17 Members with Revd Jane Mortimer in Chair. Notes of previous church meeting agreed. Fire Drill 22nd May Fire Drill was successful, suggested that we check that other organisations using the church have fire drills. Highams Park URC Revd Richard Mortimer will be spending more time at Highams Park and Revd Ulrike Bell will spend more time with Chingford; this will be discussed at Elders Meeting on 16th June 2016. Fund Raising The Quiz on 11th June and Barbecue on 16th July were both cancelled. Forest Group Prayer Walk 12th June Services will continue at Chingford and Ray Lodge. There will be a shorter walk from Highams Park URC and a longer walk from Chingford Station via St James URC and Knighton Woods, both walks finishing at the Woodford Manse for a barbecue. Forest Group Services Songs of Praise at Ray Lodge on 30th June, 25th August in Epping Forest and 13th October and 24th November to be arranged. Forest Group Training Following morning services on 11th Sep, 2nd, 16th, 30th Oct, 13th, 20th Nov based on Church Army material for church members. Youth Outreach Worker Application pack being reviewed to see if it can be improved. Working Party 22nd May and 5th June 2016 Agreed we seek specialist help to investigate damp patch in Junior Hall and to deal with high level gutters on the organ loft. Malcolm Allard will need help with clearing vegetation from valley gutter above the halls. Letting Fees Agreed to delegate the calculation of a fee increase from September to the Board of Management. Forest Group Website Malcolm Allard is looking to take photos of elders and up to date photos of church activities to go on the website. 27th Chingford Scout Group An approach is being made to a potential Group Scout Leader and the Cub Leadership team is being encouraged to manage on their own. Monthly Charity Payments In the view of a reduction in monthly charity collections it was agreed to collect for each charity over 3 months, so that either the number of charities per annum will be reduced from 12 to 4, or there will be a three year cycle instead of one year. Cubs In May we continued with the Navigator badge and had evenings for the Athletics badge, widegame and badge workshop. Ali Nijabat has gained the Chief Scout’s award. In June we had a hike, camp training, activities at Gilwell and a cooking evening. We can now recruit new Cubs aged 8 to 10 from outside the Group to replace Cubs moving up to Scouts. Scouts In May we had hiking skills, charity fair, widegame, sports and badge workshop. Five Scouts attended the District Survival camp and came 3rd out of 11 teams. All gained the Backwoods Skills challenge and three the Outdoor Challenge and Tobi Kotun completed the Chief Scout’s award. In June we had camp training, a hike, activities at Gilwell and cooking. |
