The Forest Group Pilots Company and I will once again be filling and collecting and preparing shoeboxes for needy families and elderly people in the Eastern European countries of Ukraine, Bulgaria, Moldova and Romania. We are appealing to people throughout the Forest Group to help us by either filling a whole shoebox or buying a few items to put in one. Useful items are listed below: Items that can be put in both a family and an elderly person’s shoebox: Sweets/chocolate candles and holders Gloves, scarves, hats toothbrush/toothpaste Shampoo/shower gel (up to 300ml each) Small games (pack of cards/travel draughts/dominoes) Wind-up torch or radio safety razors/plasters Brush/comb Craft/sewing kit Socks/tights Soap/flannel Extra items that can be put in a family box: pens/crayons/felt tips screwdriver/tape measure small toys (yo-yo, skipping rope, small ball, toy cars or teddy/doll, or soft toy Simple solar powered calculator Hair accessories colouring books/writing pads Extra items that can be put in an elderly person’s box: Tissues/handkerchiefs Pen/paper Reading glasses Small mirror Sensory items (windchimes, lavender bag, beany item) To create a fantastic £10 Family Shoebox go to www.linktohope.co.uk Items for inclusion in a box need to be given to a Pilot or Pilot Officer by Thursday 20th October in time for the children to make up boxes at Pilots on 21st October. Completed boxes need to be given in by the end of October. £2 needs to be attached to each box to cover transport so donations of money to cover this, or to buy extra items, would be gratefully received.
